Africa truly is a playground for the adventurous soul...

There are many reasons to come to Africa. The continent holds some of the largest and wildest areas left on Earth today, it is home to some of the most diverse arrays of wildlife on the planet and, most importantly, it has a rich and caring soul. Africa, as a longitudinally oriented continent spans a diverse range of biomes, each with its special host of unique beings, it is also home to some of the most adaptive and incredible people on Earth. Mountains, rolling savannah, deep jungle, burning deserts, coastlines, lakes and wetlands, it is all here, and the best part about it is that it could take a lifetime just to explore one of these habitats!

A journey through Africa, I believe, is something everyone should strive to undertake at some point in their lives. It is enriching and rejuvenating.

I have had the fortune to visit many of Africa's special places, there are also many more on my list that I have yet to see. Join me on an expedition to one of these magnificent places, allow me to give you a look in to the soul of the motherland.

I am part of a proud team that owns Earth Ark Travel, a Botswana based travel agency that books expeditions across africa with a special focus on photographically centred trips. We are a small team of industry professionals, guides, travellers and long time safari goers with over 50 years of combined experience in African travel, and we love nothing more than a good adventure! Please visit www.eartharktravel.com for more information. There is so much to choose from.

Some of the experiences and destinations trending right now are:

- Republic of Congo: Odzala Kokua National Park, Western Lowland Gorilla trekking, unique gameviewing in the Central African Rainforest that holds species of bird and animal found nowhere else. This is a true immersion into the otherwise inaccessible "heart of Africa". I spent months working here in the Odzala Kokua National Park and I am dying to return. https://www.africanparks.org/the-parks/odzala-kokoua

- Botswana: The Okavango Delta, An expanse of fluctuating wetland half the size of Switzerland, holding a vast array of wild animals. Perhaps one of the most beautiful places you will ever visit in your life, this World Heritage Site number 1000 is a once in a lifetime destination. You will never forget it.

- Botswana: The Kalahari Desert and Nxai Pan, wide horizons and incredible scenery broken by lone Elephant bulls and herds of Oryx. Both areas are unrealised gems in the glittering crown of Botswanas wild areas. Fortunately, they are in my back yard.

- Chad: Zakouma National Park, opening to tourism after extensive rehabilitation work by African Parks. An amazing area situated between the wastes of the Sahara and the dense jungles of the Central African Rainforest. I am dearly looking forward to visiting this conservation success story. https://www.africanparks.org/the-parks/zakouma
